What is this place?
This site is meant to serve as the AUV Society’s collective “Digital Garden”.
Take a look at Maggie Appleton’s A Brief History & Ethos of the Digital Garden if you want to understand what that means. It’s a great read, and will also give you a good idea on how to use and extend the site.
If maintained and built properly, bedrock can serve as the primary means of knowledge transfer for the club (especially CS), and has the potential to bridge the big gap in know-how and experience between club generations.
There’s a lot of tiny little details you pick up with work—the experience that directs us to do things a certain way, the mistakes that taught us what not to do, and confusing pieces of software built to solve a specific tiny problem—and a lot of these details are lost with every new batch. I hope that this site helps mitigate that.
I hope bedrock will eventually serve as a library for all of the society’s documentation: content from all the three major branches, and everything else in between too.
Happy gardening!
